Hat`s Off To June`s Must Haves
Vogue’s Must Haves June 2010: Sofia’s Picks
I was flipping through Vogue, or surfing through I suppose you`d say, and came upon one of my favourite features they do. The Vogue must-have list goes up every month. On the June 2010 list I found two very interesting handbag styles on their must haves—the weaved basket style (the centre piece of the Chanel handbags spring/summer shows for both 2010 and 2011) and the consistent heart stopper, a Hermes “It” bag in monochrome. As is often the case with Vogue, I couldn`t agree more.

Straw and Crochet from the Countryside to Venice
There were a lot of doubters when Chanel first unleashed the weaved straw handbag style. Some will remember my articles on the 2010 spring collection which happened in a (typically shocking for Lagerfeld) barn setting, and the preview to the 2011 spring show unveiled in Venice by Chanel just a few weeks ago. Both collections featured heavy doses of straw and yarn in the handbags. Many people said What gives? I said, Yes please!
Now that Vogue has put the stamp of must-have on the trend maybe thou shalt doubt no more…The bag they featured is by Dolce & Gabbana, and there are plenty of designers who`ve picked up on it, but it’s definitely a Chanel creation.

The It Bag in Monochrome
No matter who you are, the other handbag style Vogue listed as a must-have for this month will hardly take a stretch of the imagination. They called it “an It bag in monochrome” and gave the Hermes Birkin in black as their example. I`d say black is a little harsh for me for June—maybe for night time, but I definitely agree that there`s no better time for a Birkin than now. I love the single color, single texture style right now, and Hermes has always had a knack for that. The Birkin is just the thing to chic up your June—I`m sure of it.
Today I`m feeling it in red, but have a look at this lovely summer look with a rarely seen Birkin in white leather. If that`s not a classic June style…well then there isn`t one.
